Problem

Growing up, we experienced firsthand the challenges facing black students in the UK education system. Oyinda often lacked consistent support when pursuing Medicine—one of the most competitive degrees with only 1 in 3 applicants receiving offers. George faced discouragement from seniors in his predominantly white school when he shared his medical school dreams, constantly having to prove himself to peers and teachers.

Our experiences revealed a systemic problem: racial disparities in UK higher education, particularly in competitive courses. Black students were underrepresented not due to lack of talent or ambition, but due to inadequate support systems and mentorship opportunities. Traditional educational pathways weren't designed with our unique challenges in mind.

Solution

We realized that while our mission to support underrepresented students remains core to who we are, the challenges we solve extend far beyond education.

MeetDayo.ai represents our expanded vision: leveraging AI and technology to create accessible, personalized support systems for anyone facing systemic barriers. Just as we overcame the odds (both placing in the top 5% of medical school applicants and being recognized in Powerlist Magazine's top 150 Future Leaders), we're building tools that help others navigate complex systems and achieve their potential.

Our journey from grassroots mentoring to AI-powered solutions reflects our belief that technology can democratize access to the kind of guidance and support that traditionally only privileged networks provided. We're not just building software—we're building bridges to opportunity.
